“Full immersion” Italian lessons are messing with my mind

Immersion means ‘solo Italiano’ - only Italian is spoken - which is a great, in principle. I agree that sometimes you need the pressure on to rise to the occasion.

Today was day two of class and we waded into naming the rellos on the family tree. I was was prompted to suggest to the tutor that many in the intensive one-week class may only do that one week. I think the expression “I want to order a coffee from the waiter, not ask after his fucking brother-in-law” may have got my point across.

Only two people in the whole wide world

speak the Ayapaneco dialect in Mexico. The two of them are currently not on speaking terms.

Grammar

Those of us who fall into the world of hi-tech should take note of the importance of correct grammar. I have noticed that many who text message & email have forgotten the “art” of capitalisation. Capitalisation is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
